Music is the Answer - September 2020 Reviews

As September marks the start of the academic year, and this – in the most bizarre of years – will be one of the trickiest for us all to learn. That said, every day is a school day, and my thirst for musical knowledge will never wane as long as there are beats in my heart – I will strive to hear them through a decent set of speakers too.

In the 'city of gold' we experience Dubai’s Nightlife: The New Normal, here you can ignore the latest lockdown rules and tune in to some epicness right here.

There's lots of free music downloads on SoundCloud too - if you don't have an account yet, get on it! Top Tune Reviews

Shit Hot Soundsystem - Charlotte

The Essex-based Shit Hot Soundsystem droped a sublime re-edit of the 1983 classic by Richard Jon Smith "She's The Master (Of The Game)" around 8 years back, but I was late to the game.

Diana Ross - My Old Piano (Patta Extended Cut)

Originally written and produced by Chic's Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards, Ross released this back in 1980 - fast-forward to 2015 and the Leeds-based funkster Patta revamps it perfectly.

Mega Mix Reviews

DoctorSoul - Soul Drug #24 (Sept '20)

A soulful blend of nu-disco and funk gems from a new Frenchman on my radar. DoctorSoul's 90 minute mix includes re-edits from Horse Meat Disco, Louie Vega, Dr Packer and Michael Grey.

Steven Richards ft David Britton - DiscoDaze #162 (Sept '20)

Open Tempo FM's stellar show does it again. This time, the Irishman Stephen invites David Britton for a guest mix. Tracks to look out for include efforts from C Da Afro, Hotmood, and Sartorial.
