Music Reviews - January 2022

OK, it's late… but after the mega announcement of The Mother of All Updates, and the franticness of work, my priorities are my paymaster. Better late than never perhaps and these choons be timeless anyhow.

Top Tune Reviews

Serge Gamesbourg - Bring Them Back (Snippet)

Digging the crates for this 1979 stunner by Billy Paul, Boston's Mr Gamesbourg delivers a retro slice of soul with this lovelyl little edit. Warm and touching all round. Bring it back.

DoctorSoul - Look Who's Lonely (Welcome To The Other Side Re-Therapy)

The Funky, Paris-based, Frenchman gets on some delicate re-therapy duties with a 100 BPM edit of Randy Crawford's 1982 classic. Two years in the making, it's as delightful as the original.

Mega Mix Reviews

Chuggin Edits - The Best of Disco Guilty Pleasures

The Essex-based disco don Gary Poulter aka Chuggin Edits delivers a delicious. From the get go, it's sauve, sophisticated funk grooves - highlights include Lou Rawls "You'll Never Find", and tracks by Those Guys From Athens, MikeAndTess, Joey Negro, and 'Little 'Louie Vega.

Melvo Baptiste - Glitterbox Radio Show #252

It's been a while since I've featured the Glitterbox crew and I missed them. January welcomes back the awesome Melvo Baptiste and this month's mix is - as per - jammed with epic tunage. Stand out edits include Mary J Blige and Chic's 'What About My Love' (turn that shit up!).
