Music is the Answer - January 2019

Welcome to future people. It's 2019 and to kick the year off I've mixed it up with a bit of D&B, some Danish trip-hop, alongside some of the funkiest nu-disco mixes to help you drift off to a more serene place.

There's lots of free music downloads on SoundCloud too - if you don't have an account yet, get on it! Follow me at for more... and/or for genre-ish specific stuff, check my SC playlists: Future Funk & Nu Disco, Hip-Hop (Ippity Oppity), R&B, Reggae, Disco Classics, MiniMixes, and Kandi Tastic (Soulful House).

Top Tracks

Erika de Casier - Do My Thing
This young Copenhagen-based artist sprinkles some sultry, independant chica, over some Warren G style beats; and it makes a wicked - and quite unique - sound. One to watch in 2019!

Jimi Needles - Jamrockin' (Preview)
A teasing preview of the unmissable sounds of "Welcome to Jamrock" by Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley rehashed for Jimi's ghetto fabulous Jungle Strikes EP. Freshly squeezed D&B at its finest.

Mega Mixes

Pete Le Freq - Mixtape #35
The York-based retro funk master drops a simply delicious mix with disco classics from The Jackson 5, Chic, MJ himself, Donna Sommer and Earth, Wind & Fire all tweaked to perfection.

Dr Packer - Let There Be House #015
Pete's label mate also gets a look in this month for his superb blend of re-edits, most of which are his own but with some gems in there from Joey Negro and Michael Gray too. Feel the funk.
