Music is the Answer - February 2019

For the February tune review section we have some awesome mixes from not one, but two Irish disco dons. Coupled with edits by Russia's Slipenberg and London's Tony Johns. As always, I'm keeping it funky and disco-filled in the month of love.

There's lots of free music downloads on SoundCloud too - if you don't have an account yet, get on it! Follow me at for more... and/or for genre-ish specific stuff, check my SC playlists: Future Funk & Nu Disco, Hip-Hop (Ippity Oppity), R&B, Reggae, Disco Classics, MiniMixes, and Kandi Tastic (Soulful House).

Top Tracks

Chicago - Street Player (Tony Johns Rework)
Having been familiarised with this sample for 25 years, it's great to finally know the origins - and thanks to this epic rework by Tony Johns; he reviatlises it with a deft passion for disco.

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall (Slipenberg Remix)
St Petersburg's Sergey Bulakh could well be one of the funkiest Russian's I've stumbled across. Adding some subtle, punchy, kicks to this all time classic: time to leave that 9 to 5 on the shelf.

Mega Mixes

Rosso - ST Radio EPS 005
Dublin's Ross Maguire aka Rosso steps up for a guest mix on Slightly Transformed Radio after dropping his 'Island Edits' EP last month. Funky, jazzy and melodic disco house blended superbly.

DiscoDaze - Open Tempo Mix #83
Another stellar mix from Mr Richards with a guest mix by the Mexican Sould Out (a new name to me), tracks include edits by LNTG, Andy Buchan, and Chewy Rubs to name a few.
