Music Reviews - April 2021

Alongside Record-breaking in Ramadan I found some time to go digging through the crates of the Cloud of Sound and discovered four brand new artists for me. Here's a snapshot of the best tracks and mixes I stumbled upon this month.

There's lots of free music downloads on SoundCloud too - if you don't have an account yet, get on it! Follow me at for more & and/or for genre-ish specific stuff, check my SC playlists: Future Funk & Nu Disco, Hip-Hop (Ippity Oppity), R&B, Reggae, Disco Classics, MiniMixes, and Kandi Tastic (Soulful House).

Top Tune Reviews

FF Edits - The Wind (Soulful Re-Edit)

Some blocke called Frank, based in Hamburg I think, drops a stunning re-edit of Wilton Felder's 1980 release 'Inherit The Wind' featuring the lushious vocals of Bobby Womack. Love love.

Never Dull - Cool Love

Funky chords from the get go on this little number. San Diego's Never Dull drops the vocal delight 'Cool Love' on Nightshift Records as the first track from his recent killer LP.

Mega Mix Reviews

DJ Nobody - Diana Ross & The Supremes Mix

A sublime tribute mix with a nod towards Diana (Ross the Boss) here, includes many produced by either Ashford & Simpson or the untouchable Nile Rodgers. Classics throughout the 90 mins include 'Upside Down You Turn Me', 'I'm Coming Out', 'It's My House' and 'My Old Piano'.

PiCOSSU Edit - Soul Explosion DJ Set

Over an hour of deftly delicious disco edits mixed by Rome's PiCOSSU. He kicks off with an edit of the Jean Carre classic 'My Love Don't Come Easy' and continues peppering the mix with three of his own genius edits alongside reworks from Andy Kidd & the incredible Audio Jacker.
