Having been successfully raised and schooled in the UK’s 1066 country, Sussex-life was certainly eventful… Professionally trained in IT, customer services and accounts management, Owen soon migrated towards the creative hotspot of Brighton.
Whilst securing experience as a data analyst, he gained a vital position within one of the pioneering dance music webzines of its time: Clubbing UK. As editor he re-launched the site completely; broadening the content with in-depth reviews, interviews, competitions and music reviews. As the site blossomed, he ventured into event management with a host of successful club nights throughout the South Coast.
From here, Owen was fortunate enough to jet off to a far sunnier climate: Egypt was calling. Basing himself around the beautiful Red Sea coastline for six glorious and – essentially - rain-free years, he managed the marketing and operations teams for internationally renowned brands such as Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Little Buddha, Hurghada Marina and Papas Bar.
Post Arab Spring, he began to head on a new adventure. After a brief stint as a journalist in India, he arrived in the vastness of China and taught English as a second language in the small Chinese city of Changzhou (population 5 million). With bigger things in sight, he managed to secure the post of Nightlife Editor at Time Out Beijing and by day was in the role of Events Director with Segrace Entertainment.
Finding an opportunity to help boost the events direction for the Beijing-based CHEERS Wines, 'the Owen' helped to break numerous records on events managed and customers reached. He literally hosted hundreds of events nationwide – often simultaneously – and significantly boosted the company profile and exposure.
Post-China, a new challenge awaited and the City of Gold beckoned: Dubai offered an opportunity to rejoin the team behind Minsitry of Sound and Hed Kandi Egypt (with a certain Mr Paul Evans) and The Owen now heads up the Solutions Leisure Sales Department; busying themselves with pulling punters to no-less-than eight outstanding venues in Dubai (in one of the most visited cities in the world) and, more recently, two additional venues in Russia's Kazan.
"Walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, love music and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, lovers and warriors."
Leaving you with one of Owen's favourite quotes; this one is attributed to the late Hunter S Thompson. For his latest shizney, head to the blog section, or for his techier side see the Owen Daniel Web Development page.
